How To get To Heaven

Forgiveness—We cannot have eternal life and heaven without God’s forgiveness. “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.” (Ephesians 1:7)

Available—Forgiveness is available for all, “For God so loved the world…” (John 3:16) But, not everyone is automatically forgiven. “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,” shall enter the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 7:21)

Impossible—It is impossible for God to allow sin into heaven. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

Believe   We must believe that Jesus was born, lived and die, but was resurrected from the dead. – For with the heart on believes and is justified and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scriptures says, “Everyone who believes in Him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing His riches on all who call on Him. For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. (Romans 10:10-13)

Surrender —We must surrender to Jesus. “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)

Heaven—Heaven is eternal life – here and hereafter! Jesus has gone to “prepare a place for you” and He will “come again and receive you” to Himself! (John 14:2-3)

It would be our privilege to talk with you about your decision to surrender your life to Christ as your Lord and Savior. If you need more information, please contact the church at 903-395-2274 or speak to one of our ministers during the invitation time at any of our worship services.

Baptism—Your Next Step in:

  • Announcing your faith in Jesus Christ.
  • Identifying with the Universal body of Christ
  • Symbolic in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus
  • An outward expression of an inward decision to surrender your life to King Jesus

Who is baptized?

  • Those who have surrendered their life to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
  • Those who understand that baptism is a picture of what Christ has done in their lives.
  • Those who are not ashamed to follow Jesus Christ: Romans 6:4.

Why should I be baptized?

  • Jesus tells you to “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them…” Matthew 28:19
  • Baptism is your first step of obedience following the Lord. Jesus did (Mark1:9) and His followers do to (Acts2:41;8:38)
  • Baptism is a picture of dying to your old way of life and being born again and raised to new life. “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised form the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” Romans 6:4
  • Baptism shows others that you have received Jesus Christ as your Savior. It is like married people wearing wedding rings as an outward sign of belonging to each other. Or like a rancher who brands his cattle as an outward sign of ownership. “Those who accepted his message were baptized…”

How is baptism done?

  • It is done by immersion, being covered by or submerged in water.
  • The Greek word for baptism (baptizo) means “to immerse.”
  • Going down into water: Acts 8:38; John 3:23
  • Being “buried” in water and then raised up from it: Romans 6:4; Colossians 2:12
  • Coming out of the water: Mark1:10; Acts8:39
